Stegmann is committed to sustainability & species preservation.
Founded in 1888, Stegmann is proud of its long history of producing high quality Wool Felt Clogs. We follow a process that fosters tradition and prioritizes sustainability, ensuring that we're doing our very best to maintain the standard that has always been associated with Stegmann. We work closely with our team in Austria to ensure quality, and like us they prioritize sustainable and ethical business practices. At Stegmann, sustainability is more than a buzz word – it is our way of doing business. For our production we use mainly natural, regrowing resources that we process with the greatest care to produce minimum waste. Only the finest raw material wool is used and all uppers are made with the environment and sustainability in mind. During the felting process, we wash the wool only in natural alpine spring water, utilizing no chemicals. Since 1888 Stegmann has produced high quality, environmentally friendly clogs that we are proud to make, and you can feel proud to wear.
From our farms to your feet.
Stegmann wool uppers are sourced and crafted in Austria, a tradition over 120 years in the making. Our American wool clog styles incorporate both merino wool, as well as locally sourced wools from farms in Austria and across Europe. Much of this wool is brought in from quite literally, right up the road, as we utilize a significant amount of local Tyrolian sheep's wool in our Original 108 Wool clogs. These small, specialty farmers produce wool from rare and endangered sheep species. By supporting these local farms and rare sheep species, Stegmann enables farmers to preserve and maintain breeds of sheep that are not typically used for large scale wool production. Without the financial support of Stegmann, the Tyrolian wool industry, and our wonderful customers, many of these sheep breeds might no longer exist. Stegmann is committed to continually partnering and expanding our use of rare and endangered wools in order to preserve these precious creatures.
